Welcome to Mapstra! I built this app because I kept losing track of where my travel photos were actually taken. Scrolling through thousands of images sorted by date wasn’t cutting it — I wanted to see my trips on a map.
So I built a travel photo map app that does exactly that.
What Mapstra Does
Mapstra turns your travel photos into an interactive trip map. Upload your photos, and the app reads the GPS data embedded in each image to pin it on the map automatically. No manual work, no tagging — just drag and drop.
Each pin on your map is a marker that can hold:
- Multiple photos — up to 25 images per map
- A title and description — name the place, write what happened there
- Dates — when you arrived and when you left
- A link — to a restaurant, hotel, or anything you want to remember
- Custom icons — pick a color and icon that fits the vibe
If your photos don’t have GPS data (older cameras, screenshots, etc.), you can create markers manually by searching for any place in the world.
Your Map, Your Style
Every map can be customized. Choose from four map styles:
- Streets — the classic look with road details
- Outdoors — great for hiking and nature trips
- Light — clean and minimal
- Dark — sleek, modern feel
You also get a timeline view that shows your markers in chronological order with photo galleries — perfect for reliving a trip from start to finish.
Share It or Keep It Private
Every map has a simple privacy toggle. Keep it private for your eyes only, or flip it to public and share a link with anyone. Friends and family can explore your trip map from their phone or computer — no account needed.
Your Travel Profile
Your profile page shows a world map with markers for every trip you’ve created. It’s a visual record of everywhere you’ve been — and a great motivator to fill in the blank spots.
Print Your Travel Map
This is one of my favorite features. You can export your trip map as a high-resolution poster with your photos arranged around it. Choose your fonts, colors, paper size (A4 or 30x40 cm), and orientation (portrait or landscape — up to 22 photos). Pay once, download instantly, print it, and frame it.
Prices start at $2.99.
It’s Free to Use
Creating maps, uploading photos, customizing, and sharing — all free. The only paid feature is the print download.
If you’ve been looking for a simple way to organize your travel photos by location and create a trip map you can actually share, give Mapstra a try. It takes a couple of minutes to create your first map.
